Residents Revel in Music and Dance to Celebrate Fiji Day

October 10, 2025 — Residents at Banyula Lodge, Karingal Gardens, and Alkira Lodge homes came together in joyful celebration of Fiji Day, enjoying a warm and vibrant showcase of Fijian culture through music, dance, and community spirit.

The intimate gatherings, held across the three residential aged care homes, gave residents a chance to connect with the rich cultural traditions of Fiji. Staff and performers treated residents to traditional Fijian dances and a song, creating a festive and engaging atmosphere.

At Karingal Gardens, the celebration included a special performance by a local artist, who sang for the residents, adding a personal and heartfelt touch to the day’s festivities. Residents smiled, clapped along to the rhythms, and many shared memories and conversations sparked by the vibrant performances.

It was a beautiful way to bring a little piece of the Pacific Islands to each home, with the joy on residents’ faces reflecting just how meaningful the experience was. The colourful costumes, rhythmic movements, and melodic sounds created a sensory-rich celebration that uplifted spirits and encouraged connection.

The Fiji Day events were a reminder of the importance of cultural celebration and the power of music and dance to bring people together — even in small, meaningful ways.
