Acknowledging the Incredible Support During the Floods

Bushland Health Group would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to the State Emergency Service (SES) and Fire Rescue for their swift and professional response during the recent flood emergency that impacted residents at our Bushland Place Villa Unit complex.

As floodwaters threatened the safety of the units, the SES and Fire Rescue early on the morning of Wednesday, 21 May, acted quickly to evacuate all residents, ensuring their safety and wellbeing. Thanks to their coordinated efforts, all residents were safely transported to temporary accommodation without incident.

We are incredibly grateful to the SES and Fire Rescue for their rapid response and compassionate support during the evacuation. Their professionalism made a very challenging situation much more manageable.

Once evacuated, the displaced residents were temporarily housed at our residential aged care homes, Alkira Lodge and Karingal Gardens. The staff at these homes welcomed the evacuees with compassion and dedication, providing not only shelter and essential care but also emotional support during what was a difficult and disruptive time.

The professionalism and kindness shown by all involved, from the emergency responders to the aged care staff, was truly inspiring. We are incredibly grateful for their tireless work and community spirit.

The Villa Unit residents have since found alternate accommodation, and many have spoken of their deep appreciation for the support they received throughout the ordeal. Most will be returning when their villa unit is restored.

This recent event has once again highlighted the strength of community collaboration in the face of crisis, and the vital role that emergency services and care providers play in safeguarding vulnerable members of the community.
